Beach Park on the Bay, as it was originally called, was one of several 1920s Florida Land Boom communities to spring up in and around Tampa. It is among the most desirable neighborhoods with 2,075 homes consisting of single family homes and townhomes. Beach Park is renown for its beautiful homes, stunning beach-side view and convenience for entering the bay. Large oak trees and towering palms adorn the neighborhood and Swann Circle Park located nearby. Beach Park boundaries are Kennedy Blvd. to the north, Beachway Drive to the south, Tampa Bay to the west, and Lois Avenue to the east. Beach Park is a beautiful community situated on Old Tampa Bay just west of downtown and is lined in mature Southern live oaks that hang over the sleepy streets like a lush green canopy. Located just minutes from downtown Tampa, Beach Park offers residents a taste of Florida living from the beautiful white sand beaches to the exciting nightlife.
The general architecture in Beach Park followed styles that were popular in Florida and California during this time, including Mediterranean Revival, Spanish Revival and Italianate forms. The overall aesthetic was meant to evoke both the exotic locale and a certain refined comfort. Those styles were also a distinct departure from the bungalow style that had dominated Tampa neighborhoods. In the more established home styles, French, Spanish and Mediterranean influenced details are common, like terra cotta roof tiles, rounded archways and steep gabled roofs. There is also a more decidedly modern style among many of the newer homes with angular and innovative sharp, sleek lines. Homes range from 2,000 square feet to 9,300 square feet in living area with an average single family home at 3,374 square feet. The average townhome is 1,257 square feet.
Beach Park offers a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks including Charles B. Williams Park, Swann Circle Park and Cypress Point Park. Tampa International Airport is 8 minutes away. One of the best things about Beach Park is its proximity to all of the great attractions that Tampa has to offer including the many shopping malls and outlets as well as the many restaurants and bars. Downtown Tampa is 10 minutes away. The neighborhood is home to several parks, including Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and Kiley Garden. These green spaces are perfect for picnics, walks, or just relaxing in nature. The University of Tampa campus is nearby.
