Rio Vista is a riverfront community of over 1,000 homes, situated next to downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Its name means "River View" in Spanish. It is one of the oldest communities in Fort Lauderdale and features tree-lined streets, sidewalks and unique architecture. Close proximity to the ocean makes Rio Vista a good choice for those with yachts and other boats looking to live the nautical lifestyle. Many of the waterfront homes are located on Isles with access to deep water. Rio Vista’s location is highly desirable with its deep water canals, no fixed bridges, direct ocean access and its proximity to Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Spanish style architecture is prominent in the larger homes that run in the millions of dollars. Homes are also colonial architectural style. Waterfront homes are more aptly described as estates.

Residents of this luxury neighborhood enjoy quick access to the Atlantic Ocean via the community's eastern waterways. Although a great number of marinas are located close by, many choose to dock their boats and yachts in the waterfront canals right outside of their homes.

Rio Vista offers both upscale and casual dining options to choose from, with a few special offerings different from South Florida’s traditional tropical aura such as Boatyard and 15th Street Fisheries, both sitting right on the marina. Just north of Rio Vista, Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful park on the shores of the New River featuring plenty of places to shop and dine, along with a high number of art galleries and museums.

The community is bounded by Federal Highway (US1) on the west, bordered on the east by the Intracoastal Waterway, south of the New River and north of SE 12th Street.  Rio Vista is also very close to Las Olas Boulevard which is also accessible by boat as well as car, and offers outdoor dining, boutique browsing, and art galleries The Fort Lauderdale International Airport is 15 minutes away as is interstate 95 which connects you to the rest of South Florida.
