Ybor City is a place where brick-paved streets and wrought iron balconies frame historic buildings that reflect another place in time. Ybor City is a National Historic Landmark District in Tampa, Florida, located just two miles northeast of downtown. It continues to build on its rich past with an eclectic mix of history, heritage, entertainment and excitement. This urban oasis offers historically renovated and newly constructed commercial and residential buildings located on and off Ybor City’s main thoroughfare, 7th Avenue. Ybor’s history, cultural roots and diversity make it one of the most unique neighborhoods in Tampa. Many of the buildings echo the charming brick exteriors of converted cigar factories, in homage to the area's celebrated history as the Cigar Capital of the World. The Ybor City Museum State Park and the historic Columbia Restaurant as well as the entertainment and nightclub scene highlight the iconic landmarks of Ybor City. Based on Ybor City's history, it is also known as the cigar capital of the world. The Ybor City Historic District is located northeast of downtown Tampa and contains nearly a thousand historic resources. Most of the historic buildings and structures were constructed between 1886 and World War I.

Apart from the factories and beyond the 7th Avenue corridor are Ybor City’s public buildings and residences. The largest concentration of historic houses built before World War I  and is located between 4th and 6th Avenues and 15th and 22nd Streets. Some of these houses date back to the late 19th century. Most Ybor City residents lived in a single or multi-family home.
